007 Theme Night

November 2011

Last night KDM provided a 007 Theme Night for 300 guests at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.

The event is an annual dinner hosted by a leading organisation in the field of parenteral and enteral nutrition. Guests were encouraged to dress in costume for the event which was attended by dieticians, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, speech & language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and all involved in the provision of care in the community and in care homes.

KDM provided table dressing, room theming and entertainment for the annual dinner during the premier networking and learning event, for all involved in nutritional care.

Guests got into the mood as they drank martinis during the drinks reception before being led into the dining area where tables were decorated with a ‘shaken not stirred ‘martini glass centrepiece filled with ice, lights and glittering 007 logos. After a sumptuous dinner guests were invited to gamble the night away on the fun casino or try their hand on the 007 laser shooting range. Themed props, designed and made by KDM, including silhouette panels, a giant fan of cards, giant dice, dollar signs and 007 backdrop were set up throughout.

This is the third year in succession KDM have been involved in the event and hope to be able to assist in 2012 too!

The Day Lady Gaga Came To The Unit

October 2011

What do James Bond, a Snowman, an Elephant and a Champagne Bottle have in common? They all live in the unit at KDM!

OK so they are props. James Bond is in a silhouette panel and it’s not a real elephant but they look pretty impressive anyway.

Room theming and lighting can enhance any room and turn a good themed event in to a great one. Imagine a Hollywood Awards night without the red carpet walkway, giant Oscars, giant clapper boards and directors chair? The table dressing is fabulous but once you add room theming the effect really can be ‘wow’.

Don’t take my word for it though. The below feedback is from a client’s recent Medici Masquerade Ball: “Your guys did a sterling job and proved that you can make a silk purse out of a pig’s ear (I refer to the venue with that comment). Lighting really is a marvellous thing and the team did marvellous things with it. We would definitely want to work with KDM again on future themed events.”

Our props are made at our offices in Trentham by the very creative Pete and we have a huge list of props already which is growing every day.

Whether you are planning a Midsummer Night’s Dream (OK maybe not for this time of year…a Winter’s Tale?), a Grease theme, an Out of Africa, Prohibition Party or Viva Las Vegas we have the table dressing and room theming to complement your chosen theme making your company party or award night one to remember.

Oh and in case you were wondering, Lady Gaga didn’t actually come to the KDM offices. She’s in a silhouette panel too!

Boris the Baby Bat Bombs in on the KDM Team

August 2011

Wikipedia tells us that bats are the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight – but Boris the baby Bat would beg to differ; flying doesn’t come naturally to him at all :(
Boris the baby Bat

He landed on the floor of the M D’s office at KDM’s head office in Trentham sometime on Wednesday night and was found awaiting rescue on Thursday morning by Kevin.  Boris – named following a pretty biased vote comprising a fully inclusive electorate of Accounts Supremo Maria and no-one else – spent the next few hours in a makeshift bat house, carefully constructed by the ever thoughtful Maria. He found comfort in a duster and sipped from a tea spoon until the whole team had to say our final goodbyes when Suzanne, a Bat Carer with the Bat Conservation Society flew in to take him to the Bat Hospital where he will be fed on bugs, taught to fly and be cared for until he is fighting fit when he will be returned to Trentham to play once again with his Bat Mates.

While Boris is recovering, plans for his return are already in motion, as corporate entertainment experts we can’t resist the opportunity to plan a welcome home party – the Bat Man, Robin and Bat Lady costumes are on order, the champagne is on ice … Gotham City here we come!

A Company Party in Venice!

March 2011

For the fourth year running our client – a leading medical supplies
company – came to us to organise their annual staff ‘thank-you’ and awards night and this year asked us to provide a ‘Medici Masquerade’ themed event.

We were delighted to work with them on this project and luxurious table covering, decoration and Venetian centrepieces set the scene. Our giant Venetian masks, busts, columns and statues together with stunning lighting effects completed the setting for a corporate event to remember.

Entertainment was provided by one of our favourite function bands playing their ‘Time After Time Show’ – 3 sets from different eras, on this occasion 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

And the clients’ feedback … ‘Everything went superbly, the room looked lovely and everyone commented on how good it looked! The band was terrific, your staff were professional and efficient in their set up of the room … thank you again for all your help and we look forward to working with you again soon.’

Product Launch and Party … Scintillating Corporate Entertainment

May 2010

My client, a major Pharma, was holding an internal re-launch of one of their best selling products and asked us to help as they raised internal awareness over three days leading to a night of company entertainment – the celebratory party. For their main office staff reception area we provided props and lighting to match the theme – ‘Re-Light my Fire’ – and this provided a taste for the launch party to come.

On the night of the party guests were welcomed by fire-eaters and flame ball jugglers and the marquee was set with candelabra table centre-pieces with black table linen and vibrant orange chair covers to set the mood with props and lighting effects to further develop the theme. After dinner entertainment, of close-up body burning and fiery tricks followed by a Take That tribute act and disco, completed the evening – that’s Corporate Entertainment!

Oktoberfest!
