If you are an event planner you might have been lucky enough to find a venue for your chosen date to arrange your work or clients’ summer parties – well done if so, as venue availability is a real challenge at the moment due to the backlog of events wishing to take place. At KDM Events, we estimate that 20% of our enquiries ended up having to postpone as they were unable to secure a suitable venue for their chosen date. Even if they had some flexibility venues have booked up really quickly, and much further ahead than would normally be the case.
Definitely not! Going by the enquiries and bookings trends so far, we are seeing more bookings for the Christmas period than we would normally expect in July/August – as many companies hope to hold their 1st in-person Christmas party since 2019, meaning that booking patterns have changed from our old normal. Therefore, we would highly recommend everyone starts now. Those who leave it late, likely won’t be able to find any booking or entertainment and the later you leave it, the more you’ll have to compromise. Venues and event management company providers might not be fully booked up for December just yet, but we don’t envisage there will be much if any last-minute availability.
To put it simply, more time equals more options. This can also include negotiating better and flexible terms, better choice of packages and venues, the spread of payments, less stress and longer planning time.
If you start now, you will be most likely able to find your ideal venue on your preferred date. When selecting a date, you have to bare in mind that almost every other company in the UK will also start thinking about a date for their Christmas party. It’s usually confined to a two to three week period with the Thursdays and Fridays in December being the favourite picks. You will find that these dates will go VERY quickly for venues and even quicker for entertainment providers. We believe that the right entertainment is the most important part of any Christmas party. But we would naturally think that!
