Sussex from the Old English Sueseaxe ('South Saxons'), is an notable county in South East England. Chichester was the counties only town up until 2000 when Brighton was granted city status. Sussex was created in 477 Ad and was merged into the Kingdom of Wessex in 825 and later the Kingdom of England. The flag of Sussex consists of six gold martlets on a blue background.
