The client needed to update their entire workforce on the year’s performance and reward their efforts in an engaging and memorable way. This was briefed to us to include all the following:
Inspired by 30 key staff members successfully graduating their internal college programme, we immersed the client in an action packed Back to School experience! Cue teaser pencil tins filled with retro sweets inviting the delegates to register for the one- day event.
Arriving at Beaumont Estate, guests checked into their bedrooms and grabbed their conference badges complete with Class names! Surrounded by amazing giant school props, guests literally tucked into the ‘School’ tuck shop and enjoyed milk and cookies (along with the obligatory tea/coffee/ juices/fruit) before the school bell sounded to call the classes to the opening conference session.
Really entering into the spirit of the theme, the client’s presentation materials and all branding were all styled around a high school setting. Directors were delighted to take up school board positions for the event and had great fun milking these personas to deliver their business content in a refreshing way! The audience had the opportunity to answer questions via interactive keypads and the energy was kept high by a series of short, fun activities to win generous prizes.
A bespoke team event tied in important company information, enabling guests to think about the presentation content. 27 teams each completed 4 lessons completely tailored to the company along with an explosive Science finale! A special ‘detention’ challenge saw 27 delegates volunteer to complete a secret task …. and their efforts were revealed after dinner to the entire group. A cap and gown graduation wrapped the day and set the scene for the evening’s planned celebrations.
Styled as a high school prom party, guests were wowed by the transformation of the meeting room to a grand dinner hall complete with school boater and tie candelabra centrepieces. Giant retro games and a digital backdrop photo studio provided informal entertainment throughout the evening … but the best was yet to come. At the conclusion of dinner, the room went dark and the school bell rang … and into the resulting hush stepped urban dance crew Peridot (of Britain’s Got Talent fame) to perform an amazing 8-minute set piece.
Buoyant from the incredible energy and talent of the crew, the way was paved for the secret detention challenge to be revealed – a film of the volunteers performing their very own zombie school-kid Thriller video! Choreographed and taught by professional dancers, the group’s efforts had been filmed and the results edited on site into a highly entertaining 3-minute dance routine. Needless to say, the guests enjoyed their colleagues’ dance crew antics even more than Peridot … leading into an upbeat awards ceremony, live band and school disco to end their memorable Back to School experience.
