With this charitable event, participants will learn about a growing literacy crisis. In England, 16.4% of adults, or 7.1 million people, can be described as being functionally illiterate. The event starts with guests finding out how this affects people and their daily lives.
The event enables teams of 5 people to assemble their own Little Free Library book-sharing boxes, within a 1.5 to 2 hour timeframe.
Once the libraries are assembled, each team keep the libraries and in your own time install them within your community, giving your event a lasting impact by increasing book access locally for years to come.
Studies have shown that books have a meaningful impact on improving literacy. Not only that but, it improves cognitive development in children, it enhances imagination and creativity, it
exercises the brain, expands vocabulary and reduces stress. The list goes on!
Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce.
Through Little Free Library book exchanges, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
On average, one book is shared in a Little Free Library every day and 98% of people say their neighbourhood feels like a friendlier place because of a Little Free Library.
We’ll work with your team to coordinate all aspects of the build, including tools, guidance and placing the libraries locally afterward. Previous carpentry building experience is not required – our team will clearly guide your team through all elements of the build.

• All necessary paint and materials to design and build your libraries
• Official “Little Free Library” charter sign, which will be fixed to each library – and can then be added onto the worldwide database of Little Free Libraries.
