With Wheelchair Challenge, you can make a real difference to lives by providing the equipment which gives access to grassroots wheelchair sports. This unique, charity team building event combines teamwork, purpose and social impact in one stand-out experience.
Teams compete in a series of fast-paced challenges to earn the parts needed to build these professional multisport wheelchairs – all destined for organisations supporting people with disabilities.
Along the way, participants gain powerful insight into the skill, determination and resilience behind wheelchair sports, while building stronger communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills within their own teams.
Perfect for CSR initiatives, leadership programmes and team-building events, this experience doesn’t just engage people – it changes perspectives. Every wheelchair built creates new opportunities for people with disabilities to get active, build confidence, connect with others and experience the life-changing power of sport.
Teams will build and assemble a multisport wheelchair in approximately 2.5 hours, though this can be adjusted to suit your schedule. The event begins with a full group briefing, including a short, impactful presentation from the recipient charity. They’ll share how the donated wheelchairs will benefit the people they support. (You can select your own recipient of the wheelchairs if required).
Each team will have their own dedicated build zone, equipped with tools and instructions. To acquire the parts needed to build their wheelchair, teams take part in a series of engaging mini challenges inspired by real disability sports. For each challenge completed, they earn tokens which can be exchanged for wheelchair parts from our shop.
As they progress, teams will gradually assemble their wheelchair. They will need to manage time and resources and work as a team to complete the build. The event concludes with a wheelchair basketball finale, where teams get to test what they have built and experience the sport first hand!
