Introduction

IWM North is situated in the cultural heart of The Quays at MediaCityUK, the home of BBC North and ITV.

IWM North is only a 10 minute taxi ride from the city centre and has it’s own tram stop which opened in April 2020. IWM is also based opposite the MediaCityUK tram stop, which runs from Piccadilly station.

Designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, IWM North is remarkable. The building is innovative and inspiring and within the striking, aluminium-clad structure, you will find a venue that is equally as stunning.

The iconic building, innovative and dynamic exhibitions create an environment perfect for dinners, drinks receptions, conferences and meetings. The award-winning HD Big Picture Show system will immerse your guests in a truly remarkable and unforgettable digital display.

Meeting space offering

Imperial War Museum North is an iconic Manchester landmark that offers the perfect setting for your event. Our flexible spaces offer a range of options from daytime meetings that can accommodate up to 120 Theatre Style or 90 Cabaret Style in our WaterShard event space, to seated dinners for 300 or receptions for 500 in our main exhibition space and more intimate dinners in the iconic Harrier Jump Jet space.

The WaterShard event space is our dedicated private events space, a modern and contemporary space offering stunning views of MediaCityUK and The Quays that has the ability to divide into three separate rooms, which will be ideal for breakout requirements.

The WaterShard is equipped with integrated state-of-the-art AV and air conditioning, and can accommodate 120 Theatre Style or 80 in a Cabaret style room layout.

Main Exhibition space

The Main Exhibition Space at Imperial War Museum North is exceptionally adaptable, an ideal blank canvas that can be closely tailored to suit each event.

At 9m high, the space is particularly suited to dramatic visual effects and creative lighting.

There is a built-in LCD projector and screen. Available for evening hire only

Where to find us

Our carpark is open every day, between 7am- 7pm. Secure parking is available for 160 cars. IWM North is easily accessible via the tram. Metrolink offers fast, frequent and fully accessible transport to and from Manchester city centre.
