For 400 years, Wotton House has done things differently. Once home to the John Evelyn, a botanist and arboriculture expert, he was passionate about the role of plants in our diets, lived as a vegetarian and was considered a pioneer of his time. This sense of eccentricity lives on at Wotton and you have see the Evelyn family history still present in the hotel today.

As you wander through our 13 acres of garden, you’ll discover corners of English eccentricity that have become synonymous with the Wotton Estate. Ours was the first Italian garden in England, completed in 1652, adorned with Roman temples and original mosaics. The gardens have been deemed worthy of protection and are unusually, individually Grade II listed. Built for intrigue, discover their mystical nature that is fit for any romantic explorer.
Wotton House can be easily accessed by the M25, the M3 South, the A24 East, and the A3 from London. Parking is extensive and free for guests of the hotel, conference venue and leisure club.
The closest train station, Dorking Station, is just 4 miles or a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Direct links and connections from London Waterloo, London Victoria, Reading, and Gatwick Airport are available.
