SolarBuddy has marked 2025 as a foundational year of transformation, growth and renewed purpose, using the lessons of the past 12 months to shape a clearer and more ambitious path for the future.
The organisation, which works to end energy poverty through solar-powered solutions, says this year has been defined by learning, testing and deliberate change. It has strengthened its foundations, piloted new approaches and refined its understanding of how to create impact at scale.
“Together, we will end energy poverty, empowering every child to learn, every family to access safe and reliable electricity, and every community to thrive with cleaner air, greater opportunity, and the power to build a brighter future,” said Daniel Belzer, Executive Director of SolarBuddy.

As SolarBuddy looks ahead to 2026, its focus is on building with intent and scaling with purpose. At the centre of that work remains its global Distribution Program, which provides solar solutions to communities living without safe and reliable electricity.
This program continues to be SolarBuddy’s greatest strength, delivering immediate and practical support to children and families around the world. In the year ahead, the organisation plans to deepen and expand this work, reaching more communities with greater efficiency, consistency and scale.
SolarBuddy believes how it delivers impact is just as important as what it delivers. Its community led, prioritising listening first to local partners, educators and most importantly, the communities it serves. These relationships help SolarBuddy design programs, refine delivery and ensure its work remains relevant, appropriate and meaningful. In 2025, that approach also revealed an important lesson: lasting impact does not stop at delivering light.
To address energy poverty more fully, SolarBuddy is expanding its focus beyond access to solar technology and towards pathways that support education, resilience and opportunity.
Its Education Programs will continue to grow, using solar technology as a gateway to STEM learning, curiosity and future opportunities for students globally. By connecting practical technology with classroom learning, SolarBuddy aims to inspire young people while building awareness of energy access and sustainability.
The organisation is also developing its Disaster Response and Recovery Program, enabling faster support for vulnerable communities during times of crisis. When disasters disrupt power and infrastructure, access to safe, reliable light can help families stay connected, continue essential routines and begin recovery.
Alongside this, SolarBuddy’s Innovation Program will push the organisation into new areas of impact. Solutions such as FamilyBuddy and other emerging technologies are being shaped around real-world needs, with the goal of unlocking deeper, longer-term benefits for families and communities.
Together, these initiatives signal the next evolution of SolarBuddy: a move from being primarily distribution led to becoming a program-driven organisation delivering integrated and sustainable impact.
In 2026, SolarBuddy will concentrate on scaling programs across new geographies and partnerships, converting momentum into long-term sustainable funding, improving how it measures and communicates impact and continuing to invest in innovation shaped by the communities it serves.
For SolarBuddy, the next chapter is about focus, discipline and execution. After a year of groundwork, listening, testing and learning, the organisation is ready to scale its impact and help build a brighter future for communities affected by energy poverty.
